Clinical Research in
Applied Neurocognition

The purpose of our studies is to apply insights from cognitive neuroscience to questions important in clinical research.

The "cognitive" piece in cognitive neuroscience refers to the mental processes and functions that are involved in acquiring, processing, storing, and using information. Cognitive functions include a wide range of activities such as perception, memory, attention, language, problem-solving, and decision-making. In cognitive neuroscience, researchers study how these cognitive processes are supported by the brain's neural structures and networks.

By integrating the detailed understanding of cognitive functions with the scientific investigation of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, we aim to bridge the gap between brain mechanisms and therapeutic applications.

Research Methods

We use a variety of research methods in our studies.

01

EEG

Electroencephalography (EEG) offers precise information on when and how the brain responds to specific events.

02

Questionnaires

In psychology research, questionnaires are a common way to study things we can’t directly observe—like thoughts, emotions, and personality traits.Learn More

Cognitive Tasks

Cognitive tasks are like little puzzles or games that help us understand how the brain works. They’re designed to measure different mental abilities—like memory, attention, decision-making, or self-control.View Details

Saliva Samples

Saliva samples allow researchers to look at things like cortisol (a hormone related to stress), cytokines (which are involved in inflammation), and other biological markers.
